What is Daylight Saving Time?
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of setting clocks forward by one hour during warmer months so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less. Most regions that use DST adjust clocks forward one hour in spring ("spring forward") and adjust them backward in autumn ("fall back").
Which Countries Observe DST?
Approximately 70 countries observe some form of daylight saving time. The practice is most common in Europe and North America, while most countries in Africa, Asia, and South America do not observe DST. Several countries have recently abolished DST, including Russia (2014), Brazil (2019), and Mexico (2022).
